Navtej Shares a Wonderful Inspirational Story on the Mortality of Life
Akbar, a mughal emperor came to throne when he was 13 years old. Being a king, he enjoyed all the splendors of life and respect. He started having the notion that whole world belongs to him. Then Birbal, a very intelligent philosopher decided to teach the lessons of mortality to Akbar.
One evening when Akbar was going to his palace, he notices a Sadhu in the garden. The Sadhu was in ragged clothes which angered Akbar and he approached the Sadhu. He asked the Sadhu what he was doing in his garden. Sadhu got up and asked Akbar if the garden was his. Akbar replied angrily that all the garden, the city, the river all belonged to him. Then the Sadhu asked who owned all this before Akbar. Akbar replied that it belonged to his father. Sadhu then told Akbar that this meant that these things didn’t belong to Akbar ever since they formed. The palace, the city, the garden, all this belongs to Akbar only for the lifetime, for the span of life and then when you die it goes on to someone else. Akbar then realized the meaning of mortality. Birbal then removed his costume and Akbar exclaimed that Birbal was truly a knowledgeable philosopher.
